Artist: Mark Sajatovich

Künstlerstatement

Mark Sajatovich’s abstract paintings situate themselves within a tradition that demands more from its viewers than passive observation. His works call upon the viewer to engage with their surfaces not as finished objects, but as sites of exploration, where texture, color, and form come together to generate new meanings and provoke contemplative thought. To examine these pieces is to confront the limits of one’s own perception, to probe the boundaries of the known and the felt, and to navigate through the labyrinth of human experience where answers are elusive, and clarity often dissolves into ambiguity.

Künstlerbiografie

Mark Sajatovich interprets society through color and lines.  His works combine the energy of abstract expressionism with the strength of geometric abstraction to forge a style guided by a belief in the canvas as a conduit for self-exploration and artistic expression.  Born in Canada, he has worked at museums across the country as a writer, exhibit designer and director.  His journey through art culminated with a rediscovery of Canadian folk and Indigenous art which, along with a passion for the works of Kandinsky, Albers and Kline, led him back to the world of acrylic and canvas.
