How to resize an image?

How can I reduce the pixel count and file size for my photo file?

You can use the GIMP software to resize the image without sacrificing quality, but for better results and to reduce the file size even further, use the Microsoft Paint app that is installed on all Windows computers, because it manages to make the file size even smaller.

Always keep the original, high-quality photograph of your artwork in a separate folder on your computer. You can always modify the original photo and reduce the pixel count and file size as needed.
Every photograph’s format is determined by where it is intended to be used; for instance, there is a difference between the post format on Facebook and the post format on Instagram.

For our open calls, the most common format for an on-site and 3D virtual exhibition is: max. 1000px on the longest side, file size max. 1MB, in RGB colour mode, jpg file. Every Open Call will have further details.
