Artist Statement

For this competition, I decided to show an artistic work depicting a portrait of the Goddess Gaia, the mother of Earth and nature, who is one great superorganism, not separate parts. Nature is very inspiring to me, so my inspiration was the definition of the Goddess Gaia as a woman, a mother with a baby, a parent, a caregiver. The depicted Goddess is surrounded by wild vegetation, hugging a human child. Everything from the background, sculptures and details, is made with my own hands.

Artist Biography

I create in mixed technique. My works are combinations of ceramic sculptures, plaster, woven wool, fabrics, wood, wire, and stone. I create spatial works with thick 3D structures. Most often I show people, their emotions and character. Sometimes these are real people and sometimes mythical creatures.
